The Church

St. John’s follows the call of our Lord Jesus Christ to carry the gospel to the people of Chula Vista and surrounding communities. The parish family provides an environment where all people may gather to worship God, reach out to the community through Christian education, social outreach, fellowship, music, St. John’s School and other ministries.

The people of St. John’s are called to experience God and  to discern God’s will for themselves and for the parish.  The parish life focuses on the call to know Him and make God known to everyone.

 About the Episcopal Church

The Episcopal Church sees itself as the via media, the middle way, between the Roman Catholic Church and the Protestant Church. At the altar, we are catholic. At the pulpit, we are evangelical.

The Episcopal church has much to offer:

* a reasoned and balanced style
* a mixture of rich tradition and healthy flexibility
* a thoughtful, responsible and committed stance on perplexing issues

St. John's Episcopal Church and School belong to the Diocese of San Diego under the direction of James Mathes, the Right Reverend Bishop of the Diocese (below right).
