Baptism
|
Holy Baptism is an outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual blessing by God. Through the pouring of water in the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, we are adopted as God’s children, made new members of Christ’s Body, the Church, and become inheritors of God's kingdom.
It is customary to celebrate Holy Baptism during the main Eucharistic service on a Sunday. It is especially appropriate on Easter, Pentecost, All Saints’ Day, or the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord. It is recommended that, as far as possible, Baptisms be reserved for these occasions, or when a bishop is present. However, for pastoral reasons, other options are possible, at the discretion of the Priest-in-Charge. Prior to Baptism, the baptismal candidate (or their parents) will be asked to meet with our Priest-in-Charge to discuss the commitment they are about to make for their child and for themselves. |

Quinceañera
|
A Quinceañera is a significant cultural ritual that marks a young lady's transition from childhood to maturity and solidifies her commitment
to her faith as she is presented before God and renews her baptismal promises. There may be a special blessing, a floral tribute to the Virgin Mary, and the presentation of traditional items like a Bible, rosary, and tiara. |

Marriage
|
A Christian marriage is far more than a legal or social event; it is above all a service of worship. We believe that within this ceremony you will enter into a life-long union, making your vows before God and those gathered to support you, and receive the blessing and assistance of God to help you in fulfilling your vows. Typically, the ceremony is conducted in the church building, by parish clergy. All marriages celebrated at St John’s will conform to the official liturgies of the Episcopal Church, including those for same-sex couples.
Marriage ceremonies are generally reserved for members of the St John’s community, their families and friends, and for those living in the local area who intend to make St John’s their church home. Weddings may also be performed for couples who are members of an Episcopal Church in another city or diocese. We will consider providing wedding services to couples who, though not Episcopalians, are active members of another Christian community. We are willing to work with couples embarking on an inter-faith marriage, provided one of them is a baptized Christian. You must contact the parish at least ninety days prior to the date you hope to celebrate your marriage. |

The Christian funeral service is a celebration of our faith in Jesus’ Resurrection and his victory over death. Such a service provides an opportunity to remember our loved ones in God’s presence, giving thanks for their lives. Whether you need assistance with a funeral, memorial, inurnment in St. John’s columbarium, or a graveside service, we are here to assist you. |
