Join us for our Sunday worship at 9 am every week. We also have Sunday School activities for the younger members of your family as well as a nursery room with toys. After worship come and join in coffee and a treat in the parish hall across the walkway. Everyone is welcome all the time!

About Us

St. John’s is located in a residential neighborhood of Chula Vista and has been an active member of the area for many years now (see our history page.) We welcome all people, knowing that love is love, and love is of God. We welcome military members and their families to join with us in our loving worship of Jesus Christ. We follow the way of the wider Episcopal Church meaning we have Christian weekly worship with Holy Communion as well as many other activities throughout the year. Our people make a difference in the lives of others following Jesus’ command to “feed my sheep”, with ministries for the hurt and poor in our midst, and celebrations to remind everyone of their belovedness. You are invited to become part of St. John’s active and committed mission of faith on our communal journey of life.

What to Expect

Come to church and find a new community! You will be welcomed with warm cheer by a group of folks who would love to meet you. Parking is easy and there’s no dress code, come as you are and be ready to sing and pray with this great collection of Christians. Each week, we hear the story of Jesus along with stories from the Hebrew Scriptures, and we explore why this matters to us in a sermon. Then we break bread together at the Table of the Lord in the sacrament of Holy Communion. We also celebrate special events together, remembering birthdays and anniversaries in special prayers each week as well as in special events. Sunday is a time of rest and relaxation for us as we charge up for the week to come, and for the work God gives us to do every day. So come and recharge with us; we would love to meet you. And hey, free coffee!

What We Believe

We hold sacred the teachings of Jesus in the Christian Bible. We are part of the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego and the larger Anglican Communion (worldwide) and follow the way of Jesus’ love in our life together.

We are a sacramental church, baptism and Holy Eucharist (Communion) being our main outward signs of an inward grace, and by sharing our life rituals in our communal worship.

We are a liturgical church meaning our worship is centered on Holy Communion and we follow a set order for the prayers and readings.

We are a church where all are truly welcomed and encouraged to live to their fullest in God’s even fuller grace.
