Funerals
The death of a loved one is a difficult reality to bear. Saint John’s is honored to assist you and your family in these difficult times. Whether or not your loved one was a member of Saint John’s, we can help you create an appropriate funeral or memorial service.
The Christian funeral service is a celebration of our faith in Jesus’ Resurrection and his victory over death. Such a service provides an opportunity to remember our loved ones in God’s presence, giving thanks for their lives. Grief is not un-Christian, but rather a reminder of the bonds of love that bind us to one another, even beyond the gates of death.
Whether you need assistance with a funeral, memorial, inurnment in Saint John’s columbarium, or graveside service, please contact the church office at 619.422.4141 to discuss funeral guidelines and schedule an appointment.
A planning guide can be found HERE.
Complete information about our columbarium— a memorial garden with niches for cremated remains — is available HERE.
The parish hall may be used for a reception after the service. Please discuss this with the parish secretary when you call about funeral arrangements. Usage guidelines can be found HERE.
Also, those of us who are alive can pre-plan our own memorial service or funeral. Such efforts are a blessing to the family who is left behind when we die. A planning guide can be found HERE.
