A Prayer for Peace Among the Nations

Grant, O God, that your holy and life-giving Spirit may so move every human heart,
that barriers which divide us may crumble, suspicions disappear, and hatreds cease;
that our divisions being healed,
all people may live in justice and peace.
We pray now for peace among the nations, and especially for the people of Ukraine, Israel and Palestine.
Guide us all into the way of justice and truth, and establish among us that peace, which is the fruit of righteousness,
that all people may live and flourish in the world you have created.
All this we pray through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Almighty God, we commend to your gracious care and keeping
all the men and women of our armed forces at home and abroad.
Defend them day by day with your heavenly grace;

strengthen them in their trials and temptations;
give them courage to face the perils which beset them;

and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

O God of heavenly powers,
by the might of your command you drive away from our bodies all sickness and all infirmity:
Be present in your goodness with your servants, that their weakness may be banished and their strength restored;

and that, their health being renewed, they may bless your holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Prayer for our Country

Picture
Almighty God, who has given us this good land for our heritage:
We humbly pray that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of your favor and glad to do your will.
Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning, and pure manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Endow with the spirit of wisdom those to whom in your Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home,
and that, through obedience to your law, we may show forth your praise among the nations of the earth.
In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in you to fail.
All this we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

The Prayer Quilt Ministry

Picture

The blessing of prayer quilts happens on a regular basis at Sunday services at St. John's. Quilts are requested by parishioners for family, friends, or acquaintances who are in physical, emotional or spiritual crisis.
The quilts are constructed in love and have lengths of yarn attached. Parishioners are invited to say a prayer for the person who will receive the quilt and then tie a knot using the yarn.
