St. John's is a Veteran/Military Friendly Congregation
St. John's is designated by the Military Chaplains Association as a Veteran/Military Friendly Congregation. Ministry to active military members, veterans, and their families allows us the opportunity to for St. John's to support them in their spiritual needs. This outreach ministry offers us a way to tell the Good News to our many neighbors in the military and to give the opportunities for us to use their spiritual gifts while they are with us.
To our Veteran/Military Friends & Family
While you are living in our community, the St. John's family would like to help you enrich your faith and grow in God’s grace.
Whether you are single or married, unaccompanied or live with your family in the area, we desire to minister to you and to help you serve God in meaningful ways.
Many of St. John's members are active, former, or retired military, and know first hand the unique challenges of military life. We also understand the sacrifices that military spouses and children make, especially during times of separation or deployment. Our church and its Military Ministry team stand ready to provide love, support, care, and fellowship to help you stay connected with a caring community of believers. Likewise, you will find many opportunities to worship the Lord in our church and to help others in our community. Since our church is conveniently located at 760 First Avenue, Chula Vista, we invite you to make St. John's Episcopal Church your Spiritual Home Base as you continue to serve our country and God’s Kingdom.
St. John's Prayer Banner
The prayer banner which we signed and presented to the 1st Lt and Chaplain of the USS ESSEX was displayed during their church service.
The crew of the USS ESSEX took this picture at their service on Sunday. They talked about St. John's commitment to pray for them on deployment. The Sailors and Marines are quite grateful for our care.
